Land Rover Series 3 - Chassis Change, Gearbox Overhaul & Front Axle Re-build
In the work shop this week is this Land Rover Series 3.
This particular vehicle was in need of a lot of TLC, and upon discussion with the owner it was decided that the vehicle needed the following;
New Replacement Chassis
The biggest job on this vehicle was the chassis change. It is important to check your vehicle chassis, as over time they can become worn, corroded and rusted. If you notice any damage to your chassis, you should seek professional advice, and consider replacing the chassis for a new galvanised chassis. A Galvanised Chassis is more resistant to wear and tear, rust and corrosion, and will last longer over time.
In our workshops here at Safari Engineering, we were are able to carry out both repairs and replacements of full and half chassis, on site for all Land Rover models. We have completed many chassis changes throughout the years, which has allowed us to receive very positive feedback from our customers. We always carry out the work quickly, to ensure you don't go with out your vehicle for weeks on end.
Gearbox Overhaul
Gearbox's can become worn over time some signs of a worn gearbox are; gears slipping, burning smell, and high revving when you release the pedal.
Front Axle Rebuild
The front axle had become worn through years of work and regular use. This had then caused the steering to become vague, a lack of braking efficiency, plus oil seepage through failed and worn seals
New Brake Pads
Your brake pads become worn overtime. Some signs of worn brake pads are; high squealing sound when using the break, a grinding sound when using the break & vibration when breaking. It is important to change your break pads regularly to ensure that your brakes are working to full capacity.
New Exhaust
Some signs of your vehicle needing a new exhaust are; rust & corrosion, knocking or rattling noises coming from the exhaust.
