300 TDI Galvanised Chassis Change
This week's project was on this Defender 110 300TDI. The owner of this vehicle came to use due to an MOT failure, which was caused by a corroded Chassis, Exhaust Leak, Worn Shock Absorbers, as well as many more advisories.

The Chassis

The Exhaust Silencer
An Exhaust Silencer / Muffler helps to reduce the noise which is directed from the exhaust port to the exhaust pipes, as well as directing the gasses out of the engine.
Some signs of an a worn exhaust silencer are:
- Engine Misfiring
- Exhaust being louder than normal
- Increased fuel consumption
The Shock Absorbers
The role of a shock absorber is to keep the tyre in contact with the road at all times. However, shock absorbers do need replacing from time to time. Here are a few symptoms of worn shock absorbers:
- Vibrations whilst driving
- Uneven tire wear
- Brakes take more time to stop the vehicle
